Sheffield Firms Triumph Despite the Recession
Whilst many companies throughout the UK have become victims of the recent economic crisis, two Sheffield firms are riding high throughout the recession. Sheffield based companies Mechan and Henry Boot, have both seen exceptional results throughout 2009, with Mechan seeing a record turnover performance.
Mechan, who specialise in heavyweight lifting apparatus, has seen turnover increase by nearly a quarter from the previous year, with results over £2 million. The companies managing director Richard Carr said that Mechan were particularly pleased with the results as they come at a time when the manufacturing industry is in a recession. During 2009, the company also reported a rise in foreign orders as they gained new contracts with top firms in both the high integrity and transport industries.
Property Group Henry Boot has also announced that its annual revenues and underlying profit are expected to be in line with forecasts, with revenues reaching £115 million. The company also announced that during 2009 it had renewed its bank facilities for three years. Henry Boot said that it believes it has a stock of potential opportunities which will give them excellent long term prospects for achieving great returns in the future.
