DWF pick up the pieces
DWF confirmed the acquisition of Cobbetts which is now complete following the appointment of KPMG as administrators on Wednesday 6 February 2013. Cobbetts who are a Manchester firm specialising in real estate have been struggling since 2008; administrators confirmed Wednesday that over 400 jobs will be saved.
DWF have announced as part of the deal they will honor all of Cobbetts training contracts plus those trainees who are yet to start. Cobbetts who employee 491 people will move across to DWF’s offices in the next few weeks. Mark Firmin, UK regions head of structuring at KPMG, said “a deal had been brokered which will save more than 400 jobs.”
One Manchester-based partner said “it goes to show the importance of having a balanced practice”.
