It has been announced that BT are launching a new business that will provide legal services to corporate customers. The launch of BT Law Limited will initially focus on the motor claims market and will progress into other areas such as employment law and public liability. BT have been granted ABS (Alternative business structure) from March 2013 which the SRA authorised yesterday.
BT Law will operate in offices in London, Bletchley and Sheffield, the service will be offered to BT’s existing clients including The AA, G4S, and Network Rail. Miles Jobling, director of BT Law said “We had already built a team with significant legal and claims handling expertise. This license now gives us the perfect platform to take this much further forward and means we can deliver whole new areas of support for our existing clients as well as hopefully developing many new relationships.” The launch of BT Law couldn’t come at a better time; the ABS follows on from BT’s recent acquisition of Tikit, Tikit are a company that provides services to legal and accountancy firms.
