Role Overview & Daily Responsibilities:
- Preparing and submitting bills of costs to the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO).
- Serving bills of costs on third parties in accordance with required procedures.
- Noting and tracking relevant deadlines and key dates.
- Ensuring compliance with these deadlines and adhering to the necessary processes.
- Liaising with colleagues to gather all relevant information for the accurate preparation of bills of costs.
- Advising team leaders and colleagues on best practice and strategies to improve levels of cost recovery.
- Reviewing bills following preliminary and final assessments.
- Managing responses, appeals, and negotiations with third parties and the SCCO.
- Engaging with external costs draftsmen, counsel, the SCCO, and other relevant external bodies as required.
- Ensuring accurate recording and adherence to reporting processes.
- Making effective use of the case management system in line with agreed procedures.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of the assessment process.
- Providing guidance and recommendations to the team to enhance procedural efficiency and improve cost recovery outcomes.
