About the business:
Our client is a well-established, reputable firm of specialist Solicitors operating in the North of England. They represent clients across the UK and are considered as one of the leading expert practices outside of London.
We are recruiting a paralegal to join the Private Client Team in Leeds. You will be working in a busy, friendly, collegiate atmosphere and be part of the probate team specialising in the administration of complex and high value estates.
The role is to assist primarily in the probate team with applications for grants of representation and the administration of estates, preparation of powers of attorney, preparation of wills and codicils.
If successful, you will perform the following role as a Paralegal.
- Dealing with all aspects of the administration of estates, including collating information on assets and liabilities, preparing applications for grants of representation and short form inheritance tax accounts, drafting basic estate accounts.
- Drafting wills and codicils using established precedents.
- Drafting powers of attorney, including Lasting Powers of Attorney (both property and financial affairs and health and welfare).
- Drafting probate and trust related deeds and documents using established precedents.
- Dealing with correspondence and liaising directly with clients and third parties.
- Supporting solicitors in the team and helping them manage their caseloads by dealing with specific delegated tasks.
- Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures.
- Keeping abreast of changes in legislation and other regulatory aspects by attending training provided.
To apply, you will be required to meet the following criteria:
- Completed the LPC and achieve a strong grade at undergraduate level.
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Experienced in use of different software applications – e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Oyez forms.
- Ability to work in a busy team.
